Raber A1,A2,A3,A4

Classification of rebar is based on a specific amount of resistance to tensile force, or what is commonly referred to as the characteristic steel resistance. Four categories of rebar have been previously identified, which are described separately.

Rebar A1
This category includes soft, non-ribbed rebars that fall under the resistance class of 240 and are also known as plain rebar. They have no ribs and are considered soft in terms of hardness. This category is a suitable option for welding and blacksmithing operations and is known as ductile rebar.

Rebar A2
The next category of rebars is ribbed and falls under the S340 resistance class. These rebars are considered semi-hard. In this rebar, there is a central axis along the length with a series of spirals relative to the longitudinal axis. This category of products has more resistance compared to the previous type. Rebar A2 is mostly used in shear functions in buildings, such as stirrups, wall ties, etc. It is recommended that welding be avoided on this category of rebars as much as possible and only be performed if necessary.

Rebar A3
These rebars are ribbed, and their ribs are spiral-shaped. In terms of hardness, they are considered semi-hard. In this rebar, the shape of the ribs is crescent or figure-eight relative to the longitudinal axis. One difference between rebar A2 and A3 is the product’s resistance, which is higher in A3 rebars compared to the other two types. Welding operations are never performed on them. This steel product is used in the main structural rebars, including the longitudinal rebars of beams and columns.

Rebar A4
The next and final category of rebars is considered hard and is known as the S500 resistance class rebar. The ribs are compound relative to the longitudinal axis, which distinguishes this rebar from other classes. Recently, this type of rebar has been widely used in structures.
If this rebar is used in designs, approximately 1 to 2 kilograms per square meter of rebar weight is reduced overall, making the structure lighter. The price of this type of rebar is higher compared to other classes, and it depends on the size of the reinforcement.
